Bio
Claudia is an Attorney at Law and Managing Partner in “Claudia M. Postelnicescu” Law Office, specialized in litigation and consultancy in private law. She served as a legal expert for the Ministry of European Funds and was a consultant for a number of local NGOs on human rights issues and for local think tanks on issues of public procurements law, Constitutional reform, conflict of laws and public policies.
In 2014 she worked as a political, media and communication adviser for the independent presidential candidate Monica Macovei, in the presidential elections.
From 2008-09, she was an associate lawyer in “Tuca, Zbarcea & Associates” where she worked in litigation and international arbitration, representing the Romanian State in dispute resolutions with foreign investors in privatization of formerly big State-owned companies. She worked on the compliance with the Loan Agreements signed by the State with the World Bank and IMF regarding the stages and measures to be implemented in the privatization procedure.
In 2008 Claudia served as a legal and media consultant at the Presidential Administration. From 2004-08, she was a managing associate on litigation in property and real estate law in Bogdan Grabowski’s Law Office. She did project-based work with UNHCR Romania on counseling asylum-seekers and refugees.
From 1999-2002, Claudia served as a legal adviser to the Ministry of Finance where she worked on international litigation and arbitration and drafted laws and amendments in the legal harmonization process to the EU law before joining the European Union. Claudia represented the Romanian State in the workings of the United Nations Commission on International Trade Law on the Draft Convention on the Assignment of Receivables in International Trade in New York City.
From 1996-98, she served as a political consultant in the Department of International Relations of the Chamber of Deputies.
Claudia is a regular contributor and publicist on issues of law, justice, rule of law, global political trends and international relations for Contributors, Hotnews, Europunkt, LaPunkt, 22 Journal. She is a member of the Bucharest Bar Association, the Centre for Public Law, the European Legal Networks and the National Union of Insolvency Practitioners.
Claudia holds a BA in Law and a MA in International Relations & Public Administration from the University of Bucharest and a MA in European Studies/Globalization and Governance from the University of Birmingham. She holds extensive international training on cyber security and law, human and women rights, EU law and human security.
