Good governance

Good governance

We undertake to find remedial actions to minimize and where possible to eliminate the danger of failed or failing governance. We provide leadership guideline, we compile best practices worldwide and we strive to understand what ten years of EU membership have meant for Romania, as well as the path forward. We look into country projects and visions.

The major threat to mankind today is failure of government. From Afghanistan to Zimbabwe, as well as from Washington to Brussels, failures of government is the main cause of the various problems and multiple crises facing our societies today. Our 2017 Good Governance Summit will start a dialogue aimed at bridging the needs of the disaffected and dissatisfied general public, with the potential of good governance to respond to them.

Democracy has always been poor in new democratic party systems, while primaries in western democracies have become so divisive that they threaten the very organizations for which they compete. As the stability of political parties is driven to a significant measure by the ability of political leaders to substantively engage with their electoral constituencies and understand their grievances, Strategikon offers insights and leadership guidelines.

26 years after the Revolution and a decade into Romania’s EU membership, there is little consensus as to what needs to be done, not to say how. As Romania needs a two-tier dialogue between grassroots and the establishment, and between those in the establishment, Strategikon aims to put forward policy and leadership guidelines able to end the gridlock of processes and institutions alike.

The 2017 edition of the Strategikon Annual Book – The Year of Challenging Choices

It’s not easy to be a leader, but the solution is closer than people may think and it has to do with returning to some good old fashioned traits that shaped leaders in past decades: will power, values and vision. Launched at the Good Governance Summit, The Year of Challenging Choices strives to understand the fault lines in international relations and the relevant actors, as they are and not how they appear to be.
